CAB Kicks Off Fall with Harvest Fest

By Sof Corcoran

As the air becomes crisp and leaves turn to different shades of orange on campus, students are constantly seeking for fall-themed events. What better way to celebrate the start of fall than CAB’s very first Harvest Fest?

“Fall fest is a celebration of the season, and is just a celebration of community in general,” explained Spirit and Traditions Chair sophomore Jyoti Kashmiri.

The event was graciously hosted by CAB and included a variety of different clubs on campus to organize all kinds of activities and fundraisers.

Sophomores Sara Maciarz and Saniya Percival host the WPHU Radio bracelet making table; Corcoran provides some live music for the night; CAB’s Cultural & Experience Chair sophomore Deyonna Moore sets up a drink station; CAB’s Homegrown Chair senior Erin Marcovecchio and CAB’s Spirit and Traditions Chair sophomore Jyoti Kashmiri smile for a picture at their caramel apple station; Sigma Nu gets water-ballooned.

“Fall fest is the first of its kind,” said CAB adviser and assistant director of student engagement, Cody Dallas. “The different combinations of audiences for the event allows the advantage of outreach and exposure for each club.”

Fall fest took place on October 5 from 5:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m, and the fun lasted all night long. There was a lot of foot traffic with students coming and going, learning more about the different clubs that Jefferson has to offer. The clubs involved in fall fest included Sigma Nu, Theta Phi, Filipino Student Association, Asian Student Association, Fencing Club, Jefferson Rowing, Field Hockey Club, Ties of Hope, Bridge TJU, Active Minds, and WPHU Radio.

“I loved the finger painting and bracelet making tables,” said first-year student Carla Golderer.

Other activities included keychain making, and the most popular activity was water-balloon-a-brother. There was also live music at the event. Junior Sof Corcoran started playing an acoustic guitar set around 6:30 p.m., with songs ranging from slower-indie pop music by Phoebe Bridgers to more mainstream songs like “Sweater Weather” by The Neighborhood.

“The live music was such a vibe,” said CAB’s Public Relations chair junior Gia Sofia. “[We are] so happy to have so many clubs come out, and I loved the ambience of the event.”

Fall Fest was such a special, intimate night filled with great food, good music and incredible people. Be sure to mark down CAB’s next event, Spooktober, which is happening on Thursday, October 26, and Friday, October 27.
